Natural design and branding combined
The Centre for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics Central Switzerland in Lucerne wanted to redesign a wall in its waiting area and integrate a natural element closely connected to its brand identity. The goal was to introduce calm and natural character into the space while presenting the logo in a subtle yet distinctive way.
We created a fully bespoke moss artwork featuring two key design elements. The background was realised in fresh meadow green reindeer moss, bringing a sense of tranquillity and vitality to the room. The lettering “ZUO” was deliberately designed in white reindeer moss, allowing it to stand out clearly while remaining visually harmonious.
The artwork is complemented by the silhouette of the Mount Pilatus massif, a central element of the logo. This contour was precisely cut from an acrylic panel and mounted with spacers, giving it a floating appearance in front of the moss surface and adding visual depth.
The combination of natural greenery, carefully balanced colour contrasts and finely crafted acrylic detailing results in a truly unique piece. The moss artwork immediately catches the attention of patients and visitors, creates a calming atmosphere in the waiting area and presents the ZUO brand in a restrained yet impactful manner.

Design and execution
Following the enquiry from the Centre for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics Central Switzerland, we began with a conceptual development that carefully considered design, materials and brand identity. Initially, we discussed various options for integrating the logo and presented several visual concepts. This process led to the decision to incorporate the logo itself directly into the moss design.
Reindeer moss combined with precise acrylic craftsmanship
The base of the artwork consists of meadow green reindeer moss, whose soft texture creates a calm and natural surface. The ZUO lettering was crafted in white reindeer moss to ensure clear contrast while maintaining a cohesive overall appearance.
A distinctive design feature is the silhouette of the Mount Pilatus massif, which forms part of the logo. This element was precisely cut from an acrylic panel, film-coated and mounted using spacers. The result is a subtle depth effect that enhances the visual presence of the artwork.
Spatial impact and added value for patients and staff
The finished moss artwork integrates seamlessly into the waiting area and creates a calm, reassuring atmosphere. Beyond its visual appeal, it also provides functional benefits. The sound-absorbing properties of reindeer moss improve room acoustics and reduce noise levels. At the same time, the greenery remains permanently beautiful and completely maintenance-free.
