Green Office Dividers for HOCH Health Ostschweiz
The finance department of HOCH Health Ostschweiz in St. Gallen already had 13 room dividers with climbing grids in place. However, the existing live climbing plants reached their limits in everyday office use. With limited daylight when the blinds were closed and the constant maintenance required, the plants gradually lost their vitality and density.
As a durable and representative alternative, all existing room dividers were converted to a bespoke design using real preserved climbing plants. The aim was to create a modern, natural way of structuring the open-plan office that would remain attractive without daylight and without any maintenance.
The grid elements were fitted by hand with real preserved climbing plants in our manufactory and then professionally installed on site by our installation team. The result is a series of dense green room dividers that provide discreet privacy between workstations, noticeably reduce distracting office noise and support concentration in the open-plan environment. At the same time, the consistently lush greenery enhances well-being and creates a calmer, more welcoming workplace atmosphere. As the plants require neither water nor daylight, their representative appearance remains fresh and 100% maintenance-free for many years. A complete solution from a single source that combines spatial structure, acoustics and nature without ongoing maintenance or replacement costs.
Bespoke Plant Design for Open-Plan Office Dividers
From Live Climbing Plants to a New Solution
HOCH Health Ostschweiz has been one of our valued customers for some time. We have already had the opportunity to enhance various departments and spaces within the organisation with bespoke moss designs and preserved plants. Originally, the room dividers in the finance department offices were planted with live climbing plants. In everyday use, however, the limitations quickly became apparent: the plants grew unevenly, constantly had to be manually woven into the grids and suffered considerably from the lack of light, particularly in summer when the blinds were closed. As the project manager was already familiar with our products and their longevity, he approached us specifically to convert the existing room dividers to a durable preserved solution.
Sampling and Prototype for the Green Room Dividers
During a personal on-site appointment, we analysed the spatial conditions, discussed various options and presented suitable samples of preserved plants. To give the customer an accurate impression of the final appearance, density and texture in advance, we first produced one room divider as a prototype. The result was convincing from the start. Following a joint assessment and approval by the customer, we began production of the complete series of 13 room dividers.
Handcrafted in Our Manufactory and Installed On Site
All 13 grid elements were planted and designed entirely by hand in our manufactory. To create a natural and varied overall appearance, we combined different preserved climbing plants and foliage: ivy (Hedera Helix in XL and Mini as well as Hedera Arborea) together with delicate Asparagus and Sprengeri. The real plants were carefully integrated into the grid structures to create a harmonious and dense privacy screen. Delivery, professional installation and precise alignment on site were also carried out by our own installation team.
Privacy and Acoustics in the Office
The transformation created by the 13 newly planted room dividers is immediately noticeable. Where sparse climbing plants requiring regular maintenance once stood, consistently dense and lush greenery now structures the entire finance department. The result combines functional space division with a welcoming workplace atmosphere. Employees enjoy greater privacy at their workstations while the office remains open and filled with light. The natural greenery brings a noticeable sense of calm to the open-plan office, enhances the perceived indoor environment and creates a workplace where people enjoy spending time.
