Acoustic Desk Dividers with Moss and Wood
At the Raiffeisenbank Appenzeller Hinterland in Herisau, we implemented four custom acoustic desk dividers that combine functional separation with a natural design approach. The aim was to improve the acoustic comfort in the office – with a solution that works visually as well.
The panels were installed between eight workstations – one divider per two desks. On both sides, they feature apple green cushion moss and rustic oak wood panels, offering sound absorption and natural structure. They are maintenance-free, sustainable and visually calming – ideal for workspaces where focus and atmosphere go hand in hand.
The result: more calm, more nature, more clarity – and a noticeably more vibrant office space.
Design & Impact
Planning & Realisation
Initially, the client was considering a classic moss wall. After a site visit and several discussions, the need became more concrete: a functional yet aesthetic solution. We presented several options, prepared offers, and finally developed the right concept together – acoustic desk dividers made of moss and wood.
We delivered four panels, each measuring 160 x 55 cm. Every side includes three oak panels (approx. 40 x 55 cm) and two moss fields (approx. 20 x 55 cm), mounted with elegant desk clamps. The apple green cushion moss complements the warm oak tone and adds a natural touch to the work environment.
Effect in the Space
The dividers significantly improve acoustics – conversations are muffled and the noise level is reduced. They also add structure, create subtle visual separation and help bring calm to the space. The moss supports indoor climate, the wood adds a warm, premium feel.
