Plant Room Dividers for a Better Indoor Climate
How can you structure an open-plan office while noticeably improving the indoor climate? For Pro Infirmis in Zurich, the answer was a solution as green as it was intelligent: stylish plant room dividers. Placed directly between workstations, these planted dividers not only create pleasant visual separation but also act as decentralized, natural humidifiers right where employees are.
Behind this project was a well-known challenge in modern offices: air humidity that was too low, affecting well-being, especially in winter. After our partner was asked by Pro Infirmis for an idea, we came into play. This allowed us to jointly implement a functional and aesthetic solution intended to sustainably improve the indoor climate and enrich the daily work routine.
From Idea to Implementation
From the Problem to the Green Solution
The impetus for this project came from a partner who was looking for a solution for his client, Pro Infirmis, to a persistent problem: the consistently low air humidity in the open-plan office. After even technical devices like high-quality humidifiers failed to produce a satisfactory effect, it was clear that a new approach was needed, and that's exactly where our plants came into play. In a joint on-site meeting, the concept was then refined: the greatest effect would be achieved by placing the plants as mobile room dividers directly between employee workstations.
Strategic Plant Selection and Design
For the implementation, we chose stylish, anthracite-grey plant room dividers measuring 100x40x80 cm. These planters are equipped with a practical plant liner and a water level indicator, which makes care considerably easier. For the planting, we relied on large-leaved plant species such as Monstera Deliciosa and Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily). We carried out the planting itself directly on-site to guarantee a perfect result.
More than Decoration: A Healthy Indoor Climate
The main function of this greenery is a noticeable optimization of air humidity, which plays a decisive role in a pleasant working climate, especially during the winter months. The green oases between the workstations also create a lively and positive atmosphere that promotes general well-being.
