Large moss wall brings nature into the home
An 11.5-square-metre, high wall in a staircase offered the perfect unused canvas. A private client in Switzerland wanted to transform this surface into a true statement piece. We created a full-surface moss wall that completely redefines the space. It adds remarkable depth and natural warmth to the architecture. The staircase is no longer just a transitional area — it becomes a daily experience. The wall is timeless, noticeably improves the room’s acoustics and creates a soft visual contrast with the wooden staircase, resulting in a consistent wow effect.
From consultation to completed moss wall
Professional planning of the installation
An 11.5 m² moss wall in a tall staircase requires careful preparation. After an initial cost estimate, the client requested an on-site consultation to discuss dimensions, positioning and spatial impact. We took precise measurements and defined the next steps. A follow-up meeting with our carpentry partner ensured smooth coordination of the technical details and installation.
A unique creation made from three types of moss
After confirmation of the order, the moss wall was handcrafted in our atelier by our florists. To achieve the desired natural and lively appearance, we combined bun moss, forest moss and reindeer moss. The colour composition was individually selected and includes apple green, meadow green, olive green and a hint of forest green, creating a harmonious, nature-inspired texture with visible depth.
Result: calm, depth and acoustic benefits
The moss wall significantly transforms the feel of the staircase. It brings calm, depth and natural character to the space while creating a pleasant contrast with the wooden staircase and lighting. At the same time, the moss surface reduces sound — a noticeable advantage especially in tall areas. The daily walk through the staircase becomes a soothing experience.
