12 m² bun moss wall in the stairwell
Our private client, whose apartment already features an impressive variety of plants, approached us with a clear vision. The goal was not to introduce nature into the space, it was already abundantly present. Instead, the existing urban jungle concept was to be enhanced with a strong vertical element that would give the space additional depth and character.
The challenge was to design a solution that would not compete with the existing greenery but rather embrace it. Our answer was a custom-made bun moss wall, conceived as a luminous green canvas for the climbing plants already in place. The result is a captivating fusion: the expansive moss wall becomes the architectural focal point, while the living plants gently climb alongside it. This project demonstrates how preserved moss elements can elevate already green interiors and transform them into powerful architectural statements.
From planning to installation
Custom craftsmanship for a green home
Achieving this result required meticulous planning. As the client already had a clear vision, we began with a detailed phone consultation and an initial quotation before refining the concept. To design the impressive 12 square metre surface with precision, we worked closely with the architect’s plans and took exact measurements on site together with our carpentry partner.
Artisan precision in our workshop
In our Swiss workshop, our florists handcrafted the bespoke backing panels. We used exclusively preserved bun moss in apple green. This fresh shade was chosen to create a vibrant contrast to the existing plants in the living space. Each moss ball was placed individually, forming a dynamic three-dimensional topography.
The result: a space full of energy
Installation on site was carried out with great care to integrate the large-scale elements seamlessly into the existing plant-filled environment. The result is striking: the expansive moss wall now serves as the glowing centrepiece of the home. The apple green colour injects remarkable energy into the stairwell, making the area feel bright and welcoming throughout the day.
The interplay of textures is particularly captivating. The soft, velvety feel of the preserved moss contrasts beautifully with the living climbing plants rising along both sides of the wall. This symbiosis transforms the wall into a living artwork. Beyond its visual impact, the moss also improves room acoustics and creates a sense of natural comfort, all completely maintenance-free.
