Moss Ceiling Panels as a Design Feature in the Office
For the new office of PEK Architekten AG in Zurich, we implemented a project you definitely don’t see every day. Directly beneath the steps of a striking stair bridge, we installed custom-made ceiling panels made of moss and preserved plants – a visual highlight in the heart of the space.
The goal was to add a touch of greenery to the modern architecture. Our maintenance-free jungle moss ceiling panels delivered exactly that: freshness, structure, and colour without overwhelming the design. Positioned with precision, they blend into the space and elevate the overall aesthetic.
The result: a design statement with lasting impact, demonstrating how greenery can become part of interior architecture even in unexpected places.
Design & Impact
Planning & Execution
PEK Architekten AG wanted to bring a touch of greenery into their new architectural office – intentionally, with quality and in harmony with the space. After discussing the spatial setup and the client’s vision, we created a proposal and refined it during the exchange.
Once the project was confirmed, we created custom-made ceiling panels installed directly beneath the stair bridge. We used our jungle moss, a blend of maintenance-free forest and ball moss in apple green, complemented by exotic foliage like populus, fern and papyrus. Each panel was carefully positioned to integrate seamlessly into the space while adding visual depth.
Spatial Effect
The moss ceiling panels bring a refreshing natural accent and vivid texture to the workspace. A previously overlooked area becomes a design highlight. The green element creates a soft contrast to the minimalist architecture, enhances creativity and showcases the synergy between function, aesthetics and nature – with zero maintenance.
