Moss wall with world map design
How can a globally operating logistics company reflect its international reach while creating a natural, calming space? For the meeting room of Marchese Spedition + Transporte GmbH in Basel, we created a unique moss wall featuring a detailed world map.
Inspired by one of our previous projects, the client opted for this bespoke solution to visualise the global nature of their business. The contrast between darker reindeer moss for the oceans and lighter green tones for the continents brings the map to life. Framed in walnut and topped with the company’s logo, the piece adds elegance and warmth to the high-end interior.
The result is a design that merges brand identity with natural aesthetics. The moss is completely maintenance-free, improves room acoustics, and creates a focused atmosphere for meetings. A visual statement that inspires – and makes a lasting impression.
A Collaborative Path to Design
This project began with a blank wall and the client’s desire for change. Initially, he approached us with different ideas and sent photos of the meeting room. In a personal consultation, we discussed the possibilities and created initial visualisations to help him better envision the result. The decisive inspiration came when the client discovered one of our reference projects featuring a world map design – and he was instantly captivated by the idea. Based on this, we developed the final concept together until it was a perfect fit.
A World of Moss and Walnut in Detail
The result is a 330 x 150 cm moss artwork that artfully blends design and identity. The base is made of high-quality reindeer moss in two green shades. The background – representing the oceans – was created using a darker meadow green, while the continents emerge in a lighter apple green. This combination gives the map impressive visual depth. Above the world map, the company logo “MSped” is positioned, crafted from the same elegant walnut wood as the surrounding frame. The warm tone of the wood forms a refined contrast to the vibrant green of the moss and ties into the upscale interior of the meeting room, which is located on one of the top floors of the Messe Tower in Basel.
Impact with a View
Positioned next to the floor-to-ceiling window, the moss artwork perfectly complements the breathtaking view over Basel. It is far more than decoration – it is a striking design element that brings natural branding into the room and lends it a modern, organic character. Thanks to the moss’s maintenance-free and sound-absorbing properties, it also supports a focused and creative meeting atmosphere. The result is a space that leaves a lasting impression on both clients and employees. A project that beautifully shows how biophilic design can express brand identity and enrich the working environment.
