Two creative moss features for meeting room and reception
KESB Bezirk Meilen in Küsnacht was looking for a way to enhance the visual appeal of its reception area and meeting room. During an on-site consultation, we presented various implementation options tailored to function, spatial impact and design requirements. It quickly became clear: a moss-based greening solution not only adds a stylish look but also creates noticeable added value for both staff and visitors.
From this discussion, we developed a customised greening concept: for the meeting room, we created a large-scale bun moss wall in three shades of green, enhancing acoustics and bringing calm to the space. In the reception area, we installed a striking moss picture with a colourful reindeer moss stripe – a real eye-catcher that greets everyone naturally. Two solutions that demonstrate how maintenance-free greenery can completely transform a room’s atmosphere.
Implementation & Impact
Tailored planning focused on impact
Following the on-site meeting, we refined the client’s ideas using visualisations and design proposals. The goal was to enhance two very different spaces with plant elements tailored to their function, interior design and daily use. The result was two distinct yet complementary solutions with both aesthetic and practical benefits.
Moss wall for focused meetings
In the meeting room, we installed a 421 x 140 cm moss wall made from bun moss in three coordinated green tones: apple green, meadow green and forest green. Its gentle wave-like design adds subtle dynamism, while the natural structure of the moss significantly improves the room’s acoustics – ideal for focused discussions.
Reception with a natural highlight
In the entrance area, we installed a 180 x 100 cm moss picture combining forest moss, bun moss and a colourful, wavy stripe of reindeer moss. This creates depth and character and offers a warm, natural welcome to every visitor – a bold visual statement upon arrival.
Two spaces, one cohesive atmosphere
Although these moss installations serve different purposes, they come together to form a harmonious overall impression and a natural atmosphere throughout KESB’s workspace. While the large moss wall enhances focus and calm, the reception piece creates a welcoming gesture. Both elements enrich the working environment and are a great example of how greenery can positively shape spatial experience.
