Green Wall Design at EHL Campus Passugg

For one of its restaurants, EHL Campus Passugg was looking for a well-considered solution to visually enhance the dining area while also improving the room acoustics. As the restaurant is used by both students and external guests, the brief called for a design concept that would create a modern atmosphere while reducing noise levels.

The green wall design was developed in two stages. We first supplied 41 handcrafted hexagon elements featuring different moss varieties and oak wood, which the campus team arranged on site into a customised wall pattern. We then added a bespoke bun moss picture with an integrated EHL logo. The dense moss forms help break up sound waves and create a calmer atmosphere, while the elegant oak frame and matching wooden logo naturally reflect the school’s corporate design.

The combination of modular honeycomb elements and the central moss picture creates a striking focal point in the restaurant and contributes to a warm, welcoming environment. The use of genuine natural materials connects the hospitality school’s branding with its regional and alpine identity in a high-quality and authentic way.

Natural Interior Design with Moss and Oak Wood

Modular Wall Design with 41 Handcrafted Hexagon Panels

The project began with our modular hexagon system. We supplied 41 six-sided panels, each handcrafted in our manufactory. To create a varied appearance, we combined jungle moss, reindeer moss, forest moss and bun moss with elements made from genuine oak wood. Thanks to the modular honeycomb format, the team on site was free to design the wall exactly as they wished and arrange the modules into a lively, individual overall pattern.

Bespoke Bun Moss Picture with Integrated Wooden Logo

After completing the hexagon wall, EHL Campus contacted us again. For another wall area, they were looking for a central design feature that would help create a calmer acoustic environment in the seating area while also incorporating the school’s branding. Thanks to its rounded structure and material density, bun moss is particularly effective at breaking up sound waves. We therefore chose a forest-green bun moss picture. To complement the alpine architecture, we selected a solid oak frame and placed the precisely milled EHL logo, made from the same wood, directly onto the moss surface.

Natural Branding and Lasting Benefits for Everyday Hospitality

The combination of the hexagon wall panels and the moss picture works beautifully together. The honeycomb wall made up of 41 hexagon elements visually breaks up the otherwise smooth wall surfaces and becomes a genuine focal point through the mix of wood and different moss varieties. The wooden EHL logo on the bun moss brings the brand naturally into the space, while the dense moss forms used in both installations noticeably reduce room reverberation. Because the genuine natural materials are permanently preserved, the complete design remains fresh for many years without watering, light requirements or any maintenance effort for the team on site.
