Stylish greenery in the waiting area
A spacious reception and waiting area offers great potential for thoughtful design. The ophthalmology practice Viadukt AOZ AG in Zurich approached us with the wish to enhance their premises with carefully integrated natural elements. The goal was to create a harmonious balance between aesthetics and function. Elegant plant solutions were to structure the waiting area, providing patients with greater privacy, while green accents would add character and create a more welcoming atmosphere.
Based on these requirements, we developed a tailored concept. Our solution combines space dividers planted with Juniperus bonsai for gentle zoning with freestanding bonsai trees as natural focal points. The result is a practice environment that blends modernity with the calming presence of nature, offering patients a relaxed welcome and a more pleasant waiting experience, while creating an inspiring working atmosphere for the team.
Custom solution for the waiting area with bonsai trees
From client brief to green space concept
The client contacted us with a clear requirement: elegant plant solutions that are also easy to maintain. The elements were to fulfil two key functions. On the one hand, they should act as visual screens to provide more privacy for patients, and on the other hand, visually structure and soften the spacious waiting area. Based on these needs, we developed a bespoke greenery concept that was quickly approved and implemented in Zurich.
Natural zoning with bonsai space dividers
To structure the open waiting area, we positioned matt white space dividers (120 × 40 × 75 cm) as defining design elements. These were planted with a selection of Juniperus bonsai 70 cm and Juniperus bonsai 50 cm .
This arrangement creates a living green landscape rather than a rigid partition. The bonsai space dividers provide the desired visual privacy for patients while maintaining an open and inviting feel throughout the waiting area.
Freestanding bonsai as natural focal points
In addition to the space dividers, we deliberately placed freestanding plants to add depth and dynamism to the room. As central accents, we positioned Juniperus bonsai trees at 160 cm and one particularly striking Juniperus bonsai tree at 190 cm .
These large-format bonsai create strong vertical accents and give the waiting area a calm, high-quality atmosphere. The result is a representative space with a clear wow effect that remains perfect over time thanks to the preserved plants, without any maintenance effort for the practice team.
